These Carolina Chickadees nested in one of my bluebird boxes in the spring of 2004. The journal was inspired by a similar one in "The Bluebird Monitor's Guide to Bluebirds and Other Small Cavity Nesters" -- I highly recommend it to anyone who has a bluebird box.

The top of the mandible (beak) is fully dark by now. The sides of the jaws will retain the original off-white color.
