Nature in Winter: Jan - Mar 2004 : I love being out in winter, especially when there's snow on the ground. I love the trees when they're bare of leaves and you can see their varying shapes, so each tree becomes an individual instead of part of a mass of green. I love the emptiness of the parks and paths, with just a few hardy souls out for a jog or walking their dogs. I love the quiet; without the chatter you can hear the bird calls and even the soft crackling of the ice on the lake.

Nature in Fall - October-November 2004 : The leaves are changing, and falling from the trees. The summer birds have gone south, and the birds for whom this is the south are arriving from their Arctic summer breeding grounds. The small animals are fat with the bounty of nuts and berries.
