While walking along the lake shore on July 13, I came across a family of Barn Swallows that had nested under the dock -- two adults and three juveniles. As I approached they took off one by one, but I was amazed that one insouciant youngster let me get very close. It preened and looked around casually, without a care in the world, as I came closer and closer. I was well within arm's reach before it finally decided that was enough, and flew away!
Each photo is slightly different. The subtle contrasts in position from one to the next fascinated me, and I decided to do this as a photo study of the swallow family.
